Category: WorkoutsTarget: upper backBody part: backEquipment: body weightLevel: beginnerMovement: Pull

Y T W hand raise is a bodyweight exercise targeting the upper back and traps. The sequential arm positions activate different portions of the scapular stabilizers and posterior deltoids, improving posture and shoulder health.

How to do it

  1. Lie face down on the floor with your forehead resting on the ground and arms extended overhead.
  2. Raise your arms into a Y shape, squeezing your shoulder blades together.
  3. Lower your arms and raise them into a T shape, then into a W shape by bending your elbows.
  4. Lower your arms after each position before moving to the next.
  5. Complete all three positions for the desired number of repetitions.

Form cues

Breathing: Inhale as you lower your arms, and exhale steadily as you lift them into each shape.
