Resistance Band W-raise

Category: WorkoutsTarget: rhomboidsBody part: backEquipment: resistance bandLevel: beginnerMovement: Pull

The resistance band w-raise is an upper back and shoulder health exercise targeting the rhomboids and rear deltoids. The W arm position maximizes scapular retraction and external rotation, improving posture and rotator cuff stability.

How to do it

  1. Stand with feet shoulder-width apart and hold the ends of a resistance band with both hands.
  2. Raise your arms in front of you at shoulder height with elbows slightly bent.
  3. Pull the band apart and back, bending your elbows to form a W shape with your arms.
  4. Squeeze your shoulder blades together at the end of the movement.
  5. Slowly return to the starting position.
  6. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.

Form cues

Breathing: Exhale as you pull the band apart and form the W shape, and inhale as you return your arms to the front.
