Reach to W

Category: WorkoutsTarget: rhomboidsBody part: backEquipment: body weightLevel: beginnerMovement: Pull

The reach to W is a bodyweight exercise targeting the rhomboids and lower traps. Alternating between an overhead reach and a W position effectively activates the mid-back muscles and promotes healthy scapular movement and posture.

How to do it

  1. Lie face down on the floor with your arms extended overhead in a Y position.
  2. Lift your arms off the ground and pull your elbows down and back toward your sides, forming a W shape with your arms.
  3. Squeeze your shoulder blades together at the end of the movement.
  4. Slowly return your arms to the extended overhead position.
  5. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.

Form cues

Breathing: Inhale as you reach overhead, and exhale slowly as you pull your elbows down into the W shape.
