Category: Wall PilatesTarget: glutesBody part: upper legsEquipment: body weightLevel: beginnerMovement: Gait

The wall single leg glute twist is a bodyweight exercise targeting the glutes through a rotational knee movement with wall support. The twisting motion engages the hip external rotators and obliques in addition to the primary glute muscles.

How to do it

  1. Stand facing the wall and place both hands flat against it at shoulder height.
  2. Shift your weight to one leg and lift the opposite knee to hip height.
  3. Rotate the raised knee outward to the side in a controlled twisting motion, engaging the glute.
  4. Return the knee to the forward position, then lower the leg back to the floor.
  5. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions, then switch sides.

Form cues

Breathing: Inhale as you lift your knee and exhale as you rotate outward, maintaining a steady rhythm.
