Category: WorkoutsTarget: quadsBody part: upper legsEquipment: body weightLevel: beginnerMovement: Gait

The stepper lateral shuffle is a cardio and agility drill that involves shuffling laterally over a stepper to improve lateral quickness and lower body conditioning. It targets the quadriceps and glutes while also developing hip abductor strength and cardiovascular endurance.

How to do it

  1. Stand to one side of a stepper or low platform in an athletic stance.
  2. Shuffle laterally, stepping up onto the stepper with the lead foot and then bringing the trailing foot up.
  3. Immediately step down on the opposite side and continue shuffling in the same direction.
  4. Reverse direction and shuffle back across the stepper.
  5. Continue for the desired duration.

Form cues

Breathing: Breathe steadily and rhythmically in sync with your steps, avoiding holding your breath during quick changes of direction.
