Heel Tap

Category: WorkoutsTarget: absBody part: waistEquipment: body weightLevel: beginnerMovement: Core

The heel tap is a bodyweight exercise targeting the abdominal muscles, particularly the obliques. By lying on your back and alternately reaching to tap each heel, it creates a lateral crunch motion that strengthens the sides of the core.

How to do it

  1. Lie flat on your back with your knees bent and feet flat on the floor.
  2. Lift your shoulders slightly off the ground, engaging your abs.
  3. Reach your right hand down to tap your right heel, crunching to the side.
  4. Return to center and repeat on the left side, reaching your left hand to your left heel.
  5. Continue alternating sides for the desired number of repetitions.

Form cues

Breathing: Exhale as you reach and crunch to the side, and inhale as you return to the center.
