Wall Reverse Crunch

Category: Wall PilatesTarget: absBody part: waistEquipment: body weightLevel: beginnerMovement: Core

The wall reverse crunch is a bodyweight core exercise performed lying on the back with feet pressed against the wall. The wall provides resistance and foot support as the hips are curled upward using abdominal strength, targeting the lower abs effectively.

How to do it

  1. Lie on your back and extend your legs straight up against the wall.
  2. Place your arms flat on the floor at your sides for support.
  3. Engage your core and curl your hips off the floor, pressing your feet into the wall.
  4. Hold briefly at the top, then slowly lower your hips back to the floor.
  5. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.

Form cues

Breathing: Exhale as you lift your hips off the floor, and inhale as you slowly lower them back down.

If you have any history of back pain, ease off or choose a gentler movement and consult with a professional before continuing.

How high should my hips lift?

Only lift your hips a few inches off the floor. The goal is a controlled contraction, not height.
