Shoulder Roll

Category: Home PilatesTarget: trapsBody part: shouldersEquipment: body weightLevel: beginnerMovement: Rotation

Shoulder rolls are a bodyweight warm-up exercise targeting the trapezius and deltoid muscles. This simple rotational movement helps release shoulder tension, improve joint mobility, and activate the muscles of the upper back and shoulders in preparation for exercise.

How to do it

  1. Stand or sit upright with your arms relaxed by your sides.
  2. Slowly lift both shoulders toward your ears.
  3. Roll your shoulders back and down in a smooth, circular motion.
  4. Pause at the bottom and repeat the forward motion.
  5. After several repetitions, reverse the direction and roll your shoulders forward and down.
  6. Continue for the desired number of repetitions in each direction.
