Banded Overhead Press

Category: WorkoutsTarget: deltsBody part: shouldersEquipment: resistance bandLevel: beginnerMovement: Push

The banded overhead press is a shoulder exercise targeting the deltoids using resistance band tension for progressive resistance. It builds overhead pressing strength and shoulder stability while being gentle on the joints compared to barbell or dumbbell variations.

How to do it

  1. Stand on the center of a resistance band with feet shoulder-width apart.
  2. Hold the band at shoulder height with palms facing forward and elbows bent.
  3. Press the band overhead until your arms are fully extended.
  4. Pause at the top, then slowly lower your hands back to shoulder height.
  5. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.

Form cues

Breathing: Exhale as you press the band overhead, and inhale as you lower your hands back down to shoulder height.
