Category: Office FitTarget: tibialis anteriorBody part: lower legsEquipment: body weightLevel: beginnerMovement: Gait

The seated toe raise is a bodyweight rehabilitation exercise targeting the tibialis anterior, performed while seated. It involves lifting the front of the feet off the ground while keeping the heels planted to strengthen the shin muscles and improve ankle mobility and stability.

How to do it

  1. Sit upright in your chair with your feet flat on the floor and your back straight.
  2. Keeping your heels firmly planted on the ground, lift the front of both feet upward as high as possible.
  3. Hold the raised position for 2-3 seconds, feeling the contraction in the muscles along the front of your shins.
  4. Slowly lower your feet back to the floor.
  5. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.

Form cues

Breathing: Exhale as you lift your toes, inhale as you lower them back to the floor.
