Cross-body Mountain Climbers

Category: WorkoutsTarget: absBody part: waistEquipment: body weightLevel: intermediateMovement: Core

Cross-body mountain climbers are a dynamic bodyweight exercise targeting the abs and obliques. By driving each knee to the opposite elbow, the movement adds a rotational element that intensifies core engagement and raises the heart rate.

How to do it

  1. Start in a high plank position with your hands directly under your shoulders and body in a straight line.
  2. Engage your core and drive your right knee toward your left elbow.
  3. Return your right foot to the starting position, then immediately drive your left knee toward your right elbow.
  4. Continue alternating sides in a controlled, rhythmic motion.
  5. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions or duration.

Form cues

Breathing: Exhale as you drive your knee toward your opposite elbow, and inhale as you return to the starting plank position.
