The standing upper body rotation is a bodyweight mobility exercise targeting the obliques and thoracic spine. Performed standing with the hips stable, the controlled torso twist engages the obliques, lower back, and upper back, improving rotational mobility and core stability.

How to do it

  1. Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and your knees slightly bent.
  2. Extend your arms straight out in front of you at shoulder height, or cross them over your chest.
  3. Engaging your core, slowly rotate your torso to the right as far as comfortable.
  4. Return to center, then rotate to the left.
  5. Continue alternating sides in a slow and controlled manner, keeping your hips facing forward throughout.
  6. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.
