Single-leg Leg Press

Category: WorkoutsTarget: quadsBody part: upper legsEquipment: machineLevel: intermediate

The single-leg leg press is a machine-based unilateral exercise targeting the quadriceps. Working one leg at a time allows for targeted strength development and helps address imbalances between sides.

How to do it

  1. Sit in the leg press machine with one foot in the center of the platform and the other foot off to the side.
  2. Release the safety and lower the platform by bending your working knee toward your chest.
  3. Stop when your knee is at approximately a 90-degree angle.
  4. Press through your heel to fully extend your leg without locking the knee.
  5. Complete the desired repetitions, then switch legs.

Muscles worked

Primary: quads. Secondary: glutes, hamstrings, calves.
